Finally, a sequel to one of the biggest movies of all time.
This one won’t be breaking any box office records though – it’s going straight to DVD on August 24th.
The preview doesn’t look bad. It kind of looks like one of those SyFy Channel movies..
I also talked on-air about the Survivor twist for season 21. Learn all about the twist here (I’m trying to avoid spoiling it for people who don’t want to know). You’ll also find details there on the upcoming season of Undercover Boss.
What do you get when you play a country song backwards? You get your dog back, you get your truck back, and you get your wife back. June may be the most popular month to get married, but this month marks the end for one country music star. LeAnne Rimes’ divorce is finalized and if that doesn’t put her music back in the top ten charts, she can take solace in being mentioned in this week’s Deal #9. Her seven bedroom, nine and a half bathroom Tennessee mansion is marked down by nearly 1 million dollars. Whenever we have Hanson in studio, as we did last week, I’m always more and more impressed. Not just with their music, but with how hard they work. They just might be the most underrated band going. They are at a point where even if they never did a personal appearance, they would still sell out most medium size venues, yet, they’ve never taken their audience for granted…never stopped working hard. For proof, check out their daily tour appearance schedule. Some dates have 3 appearances/events leading up to the show. I don’t know when these guys sleep. Continued success to them, and if you missed the interview/in studio performance, check them out here, and check out STAR TV and the LISTEN tab.
Nice to see Buffalo as #10 on the new Forbes Woman list of the Top 50 Cities for Working Moms (based on women’s earnings, unemployment rates, crime levels, school systems, health care and cost of living). See the full list at http://forbeswoman.com
I’m freaking out that its gonna be August this weekend! I need more time. I need more tan. I need more….summer. I know I should just enjoy it and not over think it. But, thats what I do. I did get to Niagara On The Lake over the weekend. Hung at Hillebrand and Peller estate. My lunch was off the hook even if I had to sell an ovary to pay for it. I still have a lot I need to do. I need to go to the beach. I need to go to the fair. I need to not work and just enjoy the weather. Maybe thats just what I will do. Although I’m not looking forward to my electric bill.
Still trying to lose the 10 pounds I gained when I quit smoking 5 months and 8 days ago. Sucks.
Garden is doing well. No big tomatos yet, but lots of cherry tomatos, hot peppers, beans and a few zucchini….Basil looks great. Cilantro, not so much….
Haven’t posted any dog photos in a while. Here’s Penny’s day in the pool today. Linda and I think she likes getting toweled off even more than getting wet! She does love the water though….she went in the Niagara River a bit on one of our walks along Niawanda and Isle View Park. She was really trying to swim. Can’t wait to take her to the beach when she is a little older!
Last week, I went down to Pigeon Forge, TN with family and friends.
I’m not the best at taking video as I’m not a fan of carrying things around with me. So the camera never made it into Dollywood during any of the three days I was there.
But I did get video of the Seven Springs, PA alpine slide on the way down, the New River Gorge Bridge, a little from the Smoky Mountains National Park, and an apparently popular Pigeon Forge activity. Here’s my vacation in 90 seconds…
As for Dollywood, I love that park. The rides are always fun (especially Thunderhead & Mystery Mine). And the shows are incredible (coming from me who usually only wants to be on the rides or eating, this is a very big compliment).
As usual, Dreamland Drive-In was my favorite. The acting & singing in it is Hollywood-quality. If some of these actors tried out for American Idol, they would definitely win.
I’m not really a fan of 50’s & 60’s music, but this show makes me like the songs. There’s two in particular I absolutely love and they’re both back to back in part four of the video – Pony Time followed by Mashed Potatoes at the 0:53 mark.
Here’s the first few minutes of Dreamland Drive-In…
Sha-Kon-O-Hey was also excellent. The acrobatics, acting, and the set in this one was also impressive. Again, here’s the first few minutes…
In addition to Dollywood, there’s all the Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Gatlinburg attractions. Go-kart tracks, random amusement park rides, awesome diners, indoor skydiving, the Zorb, lots of outlet stores, and tons more. And that’s not even mentioning the surrounding areas including the Smoky Mountains National Park.
I’ll probably head back in November for the annual Christmas festival. The entire town (along with all of Dollywood) will be covered with Christmas lights – it looks amazing. So now I’m already looking forward to summer ending. Well, kind of – it’s more like I’m already set for my next vacation.
The Hollywood Reporter gives the scoop on the new Muppet Movie, which was pitched to Disney by Jason Segal (How I Met Your Mother). This is a very cool look at the inside mechanicsof not only the making of, but the planning of a movie. I’m betting these sessions can be brutal at times, uplifting at others. It’s not all fun and glamour…it’s a lot of hard work that no one will ever see that makes something a hit!
Okay Mike and Ike placed an advertising schedule on Star 102.5. They then sent cases of the candy. I am out of control! I cannot stop eating them. Between me quitting smoking and PMS I will weigh 300 pounds.
So the garden is great! I got cucumbers, beans, some cherry tomatoes, hot peppers and zucchini’s already. I’ve also had rasberries and blueberries. Soo will be Blackberries and hopefully big tomatoes. Those aren’t looking so great!
Family in town visiting this weekend! Can’t wait to show them Buffalo in Summer. The last time they were here was becasue they were stranded the year we got 79 inches of snow in one day. They should be pleasantly surprised.
Lady Gaga is reportedly receiving $500,000 to endorse TWININGS TEA. Names for the Tea being “floated”…THE TASTE OF GAGA and Twinings company officials say Lady Gaga is “making drinking tea cool again!”
Former Buffalo News TV Critic Alan Pergament has a really neat blog covering local TV. Check it out here. I haven’t spoken with Alan about it, but I’m betting it’s great to write about only the topics you want to cover, and have no deadlines, word count limitations, or an editor deleting what you feel are key elements.
His blog is one you’ll want to put on your “favorites.” Right next to mine, I’m sure.
Back from a staycation in our dog’s wading pool, with a couple of quickie blog updates. Here’s the first…pics of celebs looking like average people…which they truly are, after all. Check out the NY DAILY NEWS meanest celebrity photos. Pretty brutal at times!
My kids have always loved telling jokes. Most of these jokes are not funny. But that has never stopped anyone from telling jokes, and I have to give credit for at least trying. We still quote my son Connor’s very first original joke, told when he was four:
Knock Knock
Who’s There?
Big Lemon
Big Lemon who?
Big Lemon Head!
Well, Darcy took this a step further with her latest “book,” The Joke Book, decked out in red construction paper, and stapled with lined notebook paper pages. Here are some examples:
What do you call a snail on a boat?
A snailor!
What animal likes corn?
A unicorn!
What is a butt’s favorite food?
Butter!
The last one’s my favorite, because it’s so bizarre.
The destination isn’t always the highlight of a road trip. Sometimes it’s getting there that’s the best part.
There’s the unexpected places you stop at along the way and the roads themselves.
Favorite Road is a website for people who love road trips. And it’s completely free. If you’ve got a favorite road, contribute here. Here’s some recent entries…
I talked on-air with Nancy Griffin & Brian Clark from favoriteroad.com today. Here’s the full interview (including portions that didn’t air on Star 102.5).
And here’s one of my favorite roads. Click on the picture for more details about it…
This year, that commercial is obviously the Old Spice Man. Guys think he’s cool, women do too, but they have other obvious (shirtless, muscular, abs…) reasons for liking him.
I liked the first commercial, which appeared during this year’s Super Bowl, a lot. But what makes 36 year old Isaiah Mustafa so endearingly cool is his personalized videos, based on his Old Spice Man character, that he is making in response to totally random posts on his Twitter page.
For example, someone with the handle “BabyMan” commented, and Old Spice Man spent about 30 seconds in his response video wondering if the man was a baby with a man’s muscle tone, or a man with a baby’s softness and purity of spirit. Priceless!
There are a lot of these response videos on the Old Spice Man YouTube Channel. What is your favorite?
