The Bills/Lions pre-season game 4 should be EASILY forgotten, with almost NO Bills starters losing to the Lions 14-6 at the RALPH…the “bullets” will really fly when The Seattle Seahawks come in on Sunday September 7th for the Season home opener at 1pm.

Call me VERY EXCITED about The UB BULLS, Turner Gill’s Team started with a big home opener WIN “blowing out” The University Of Texas-El Paso 42-17! When can you remember College Football excitement in Buffalo (trust me…it’s been many, many years)!

We’ve seen this season’s cast of Dancing With The Stars and Amazing Race. Now it’s time to meet the Survivor players for the upcoming season…

Amongst the 18 contestants there’s an actress who made a few appearances on Gilmore Girls, a 2004 Olympic gold medalist, two lawyers, a hairdresser, and the current international champion of Nintendo’s Super Smash Brothers Melee video game.

If that doesn’t make you want to watch this season, maybe this will – Jeff Probst told the Associated Press recently that this season has a wild animal problem that the producers had to figure out how to deal with. That should make it interesting.

Survivor: Gabon premieres Thursday, September 25th on CBS.

It’s been a long seven months between seasons of Amazing Race. But soon the wait will be over.

The 13th season begins Sunday, September 28th at 8pm on CBS. The dreaded Sunday evening slot means it will probably run late just about every week thanks to sports over-runs. But that does help the ratings somehow (although it annoys me so much I’d rather just watch online if they make it available that way this year).

This year’s teams include married beekeeper / super hippies, southern belles, a brother / sister team, a separated couple looking to reconnect, a couple just back together after a year-long break-up, and six other teams. Here they are…

Find out more about the teams here.

The Farther Away You Go, The Worse Buffalo Gas Prices Look

When I got back from vacation I was telling of how gas was so much cheaper elsewhere. Even in areas where they have you captive for gas stations (Pennsylvania Turnpike, resort beach towns), gas was at least 20 cents cheaper than back in Buffalo. The best I found was Middletown, Delaware, where I paid $3.44 a gallon, about 50 cents less. Remember, Delaware has no sales/state tax. Since then we are down in the $3.80’s. Check how cheap it is in Middletown, Delaware right now by clicking
CHEAPER GAS.

Yep, sometimes the farther away you get from New York State, the more you wonder why we live here.

Worst Celeb Hotel Guests

Concierge.com is out with their list of the Worst Hotel Guests.

For the entire article and list, click here. You’ll find some surprises, including a hockey team!
A quickie example of a few listed “worsts”:

Amy Winehouse: “Wino’s hotel room was littered with bottles and cigarette butts, liquor had seeped into the upholstery, and dirty underwear covered the floor.”

Britney Spears: “Britney is a notorious slob. A former bodyguard told News of the World that he once rescued her from a trashed room where she’d been hanging with musician Howie Day only days after exiting a rehab program.”

Mariah Carey: “Mimi allegedly asks that suites be outfitted with gold faucets and that all toilet seats be replaced with brand-new ones before her arrival. Mineral water is required not only for her own bath, but for her dog’s as well. “

Naomi Campbell: “The supermodel allegedly beat up the Italian actress Yvonne Scio in a hotel, bruising Scio’s face and splitting her lip. The supposed cause? They were on their way to a party together, but when Campbell showed up at the hotel to pick up the actress, she was unhappy to find they were both wearing the same frock.”

Nicole Kidman: “In advance of what was to be only a 12-hour stay, she had assistants ship a set of pink, 800-thread-count Italian sheets to the hotel, along with pages’ worth of diagrams and instructions for making up her bed. Then she never bothered to actually show up. Nicole also had the staff at a different hotel replace the standard 60-watt lightbulbs in her room with 40-watt bulbs.”

You’ve got to like how the BILLS played in pre-season Game 3 beating The COLTS 20-7! The long BILLS drive in the 2nd Quarter, the “D’S” 4 interceptions, a forced fumble that Terrence McGee returns for a TD all gives hope for the Team this pre-season…but left tackle Langston Walker’s injured left forearm could leave a gaping hole in the O-line unless pro-bowler Jason Peters gets back on the field before opening day on September 7th! Did you love the Colts new $720 MILLION Lucas Oil Stadium (wouldn’t something like that look good on Buffalo’s Waterfront)?

Eddie Money was the headliner at a huge show August 23rd in Niagara Falls, and Star 102.5 was proud to partner with the Hard Rock Cafe and the City of Niagara Falls NY to put it on.

I had the chance to talk to Eddie this week before the show – catch the interview here.

American Idol finalist Jon Peter Lewis was the opening act, followed by Jon McLaughlin – who again amazed the crowd on the keys – and then Eddie Money’s daughter Jesse did her own set, before “The Money Man” finally took to the stage.

Niagara Falls mayor Paul Dyster proclaimed August 23rd “Eddie Money Day,” in honor of the occasion. The crowd did not disappoint, with estimates of 10,000 people filling the green space behind the Hard Rock Cafe, not to mention the hundreds (thousands?) lining the streets listening to the free show.

I hope this becomes a summertime tradition in the Falls! Eddie was an amazing performer, playing a heavyweight 90 minute show packed with hits. (Did you know he has had 26 Top 100 hits in his career? See the ones he did Saturday night alone – amazing!) We had a great time, and even awarded a Fergie Florida Flyaway to Donna Gwizdowski, who you can see on stage in my little slideshow above.

Eddie Money Hit List performed 8/23
Two Tickets to Paradise
Baby Hold On
I Wanna Go Back
Take Me Home Tonight
Peace In Our Time
Gimme Some Water
Think I’m In Love
We Should Be Sleepin’
Walk On Water

Encore: Shakin’

He also did some great covers, but I was amazed at all the songs I remembered from his 31 year career- still going strong.

The family and I took a little trip to Ohio this week to see my mother-in-law. We do it every summer, it’s our duty, but as the kids get bigger, it’s getting harder to pull off: all 4 of us pile into my car and drive 8 hours to spend 5 days in a 2 bedroom condo with mom. Yikes.

In an attempt to counteract the stress, we planned a few more things to do this time around: we hit a waterpark, went on a little hike, and caught up with some friends who we haven’t seen in years, which was nice. (It was definitely worth it to catch up with you, Bob and Mary!)

But even with those brief distractions, sharing such a small space with such a vocal critic of everything we do proved to be a little much. Oh yeah, I got 10 calls from the station, and a bunch of texts, too.

So I’m actually quite relieved to be back at work, and with the weekend almost here, I’m ready for that overused cliche quoted by families everywhere post road-trip:

I need a vacation from my vacation!

Kellogg’s beat out the “BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS” WHEATIES for the honor of putting 8-time Olympic GOLD MEDALIST MICHAEL PHELPS on their boxes of Corn Flakes and Frosted Flakes. It seems some nutritionists aren’t too happy about the switch either because Frosted Flakes have three times the amount of sugar as Wheaties and one-third the fiber…but if you like Frosted Flakes Michael, you eat as much as you like…you deserve it after those 8 GOLD MEDALS (Congratulations)! Good luck in 2012 in London Michael, and I hope you win MORE Gold when you compete!

About a week ago, I posted about the incredible time I had at the Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course near Lake George, NY.

Now Dollywood (in Tennessee) has announced that they’re adding an area very similar to that at their park! It’ll be called Adventure Mountain.

There’ll be zip lines, rope trails, and rock climbing all over a waterfall gorge! There will be five different courses ranging in difficulty levels. It’ll open March 28th.

See the artist renderings of the new area here and start planning a trip to Dollywood for next year!

In the meantime, go to Darien Lake! I had so much fun there Monday night. I just uploaded the audio of our (me, Brian, and Christina’s) SkyCoaster ride. Hear it here.

In case you’re wondering why it’s so short, it had to be edited to air because the only time we were within our transmitter’s range was while we were over the water. When we were over the park, the signal was lost.

I should also mention this was done with Darien Lake’s permission. To do this, I had to have the microphone duct-taped to me! Not a comfortable thing, but worth it to get the audio.

Yesterday, the highlight of the concert for me was getting to talk with Sara Bareilles. She’s such a cool person!

We talked about her basket-case-ness (her word), how she knew the members of Maroon 5 in college, who “Love Song” is about, and what happens when she goes on roller coasters right before a concert.

Hear it all here. Then go learn more about Sara at her website.

As Tropical Storm Fay passes through, here are links to what I’ve found are the most reliable still working webcams in Key West. Can be neat to watch. Or VERY boring. But I guarantee you’ll kill time at work by clicking on:

I think I was the ONLY person worried about this…Sunday’s Bills/Colts game WILL be televised on Channel 7 (as of last week The BILLS weren’t even sure the game would be on a local station other than The NFL Network that many of us DON’T receive because of Time/Warner Cable). Today from my MOLE (no pun intended) at Channel 7 Sunday night’s line-up will begin at 7pm with The BUFFALO BILLS HIGHLIGHT SHOW, followed at 7:30 by The BUFFALO BILLS Pre-Game Show and at 8pm THE GAME from Indy.
Happy viewing and GO BILLS!!!

I’m live at Darien Lake today at the Maroon 5 / Sara Bareilles / Counting Crows concert!

Tickets are still available here or at the gate (at the time I’m writing this at least). But even if you’re not going to the concert, come out and join me at Darien Lake. I’ll be broadcasting live from 3p – 7p right next to one of my favorite rides, the Ranger!

And if you are going to the concert, make sure you upgrade your ticket to a park pass for just $13 extra! You can do this right at the amusement park entrance gate.

At one point, I’m hoping to interview Sara Bareilles. Love Song has been one of the biggest songs in the country the past few months and her second single Bottle It Up is just as great. Maybe I’ll interview her while on the Ranger – wouldn’t that be crazy to hear! If you’re nearby, you can help me out with the interview. However it happens, I’ll post it on my blog later this week.

I’m also looking forward to seeing Maroon 5. Their CD “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” has four huge hits already (Makes Me Wonder, Wake Up Call, Won’t Go Home Without You, and recent addition If I Never See Your Face Again w/ Rihanna).

And Counting Crows should be cool too – their new CD is called Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings. The first hit from it (You Can’t Count On Me) is something I’ve been listening to on my iPod for months now.

See you at Darien Lake!
